Edna Graneli, professor of Aquatic Ecology, is recognized by the Linnaeus University as an Outstanding Researcher.
This is the first time the prize is awarded by the Linnaeus University. The award is given to acknowledge a scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to research at the Linnaeus university, and who has made research at the Linnaeus university known in the society and in the international research community.
The Faculty Board's motivation to award professor Edna Graneli the prize as Outstanding Scientist is as follows:
”Edna Graneli has been a key person in the establishment of Marine Ecology at the Linnaeus University, and has been instrumental in giving the field a high profile, both nationally and internationally, through research, presentations, conferences and service to the society, such as "Miss Alga". Thanks to her research, Edna Graneli has been elected to several national and international research organizations, and thus helped to influence the direction of natural sciences research, not only in Sweden, but also in Europe and the United States. "
During the academic ceremony, on May 20, professor Edna Graneli will receive the award, which includes a diploma and a check of 25 000 Swedish Crowns
