Toxic and Harmful Microalgae of the World Oceanby Lassus et al. - joint ISSHA/UNESCO publication that takes stock of harmful algae blooms and efforts to mitigate them
ICHA17 presenters can submit their papers for inclusion in the Proceedings of the International Society for the Study of Harmful Algae before March 1 2017.
The 19th International Conference on Harmful Algae 2020 will be held in Los Cabos, Mexico.
ICHA 17 participants with non-member registration are granted 2 years complementary ISSHA membership and can vote.

The IOC Training Course on Harmful Marine Microalgae 2016 will be held 7-17 August at the IOC Training Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark. Deadline for applications: 1 April 2016.
Dr. Yves Collos, head of the Harmful Algal Blooms and Diversity group at CNRS, Montpellier, France passed away on October 25 2015.

The new deadline for manuscripts for the Proceedings of ICHA 16 is the 1st March 2015. There will not be any further extension of the deadline.

The poll opens for election of ISSHA Council Members and of the 18th ICHA venue at 00.01 European Time on October 15th. To vote proceed to the candidates and then election ballot. You will need to log in to be able to vote.
It is now time to suggest candidates for the new ISSHA council. Both the President Beatriz Reguera and the Secretary Karin Rengefors will complete their mandates of two terms and thus need to be replaced.

The 14th International Conference on Harmful Algae was held in Hersonissos, Crete, 1-5 November 2010. Proceedings of submitted manuscripts, edited by Drs K. Pagou and G. Hallegraeff, are finally published and for the first time in digital form through the ISSHA and IOC UNESCO website. The objective of ISSHA is to publish future proceedings in a quicker and freely available way for the HAB community. Link to Proceedings here.

Hans Paerl, professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Institute of Marine Sciences in Morehead City, USA, is the 2011 winner of the Odum Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Edna Graneli, professor of Aquatic Ecology, is recognized by the Linnaeus University as an Outstanding Researcher.
Professor Patricia Glibert, University of Maryland, is appointed to Honorary Doctor at Linnaeus University
The 15th ICHA 2012 Korea will be held at the Changwon Exbihition and Convention Center (CECO),Gyeongnam, Korea on Oct.29 - Nov.2, 2012. The website www.hab2012.kr is open and provides information about the 15th ICHA meeting from now on.

If you do not receive the confirmation within 24 hrs, do not try to log in again, instead send an e-mail to Karin Rengefors (Secretary) or Nina Lundholm (Treasurer) and we will assist you.

Prof. Takeshi Yasumoto was invested Doctor Honoris Causa at the University of Vigo on 28 January 2010, the day of Saint Thomas Aquinas, patron of students and universities.
On February 2, 2010, we launched the new ISSHA website. Many members have already been able to register and pay their fees easily while some have encountered problems.
